Your Health Assessment will include:

  • A fully detailed medical and lifestyle questionnaire: Collecting comprehensive information on individual health history, family risk factors and lifestyle impacts on your health.
  • Height, Weight and Body Mass Index (BMI): Assessing body composition and weight-to-height ratios.
  • Blood pressures, pulse and oxygen saturation: The assessment of circulatory function and cardiovascular efficiency.

Blood tests usually include:

  • Full Blood Count (FBC), ESR: To review red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, markers for inflammation and haemoglobin.
  • Urea and Electrolytes: Potassium, sodium, bicarbonate, chloride, creatine, urea, eGFR – to check kidney function.
  • Liver Function Tests: Alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, ALT, AST, total protein, Gamma GT, globulin, albumin – to assess how well your liver is working.
  • Bone Markers: Phosphate, calcium, magnesium, uric acid – to get some picture considering bone and joint health.
  • Glucose and HbA1c: To look at your current blood sugar control, and detect your long-term blood sugar control (to see if you may be developing diabetes) as well.
  • Cholesterol Profile: Total cholesterol, HDL, non-HDL cholesterol, LDL (calculated), triglycerides – to review cardiovascular health.
  • Iron and Ferritin (including TIBC): To look at levels of iron and stored iron – important for diagnosis of iron overload or anaemia.
  • Thyroid Function: Free T4 and TSH – to check and review your thyroid activity.
  • Ferritin: To get further information on iron storage in more detail.
  • Vitamin D (25-OH): To check your vitamin D levels (vital for bones, immunity and general healthy functioning).
  • Vitamin B12 and Folate: Checking these levels are crucial for nerve function, energy and production of red blood cells.
  • PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen): To screen for problems with the prostate (enlargement or cancer risk).
  • BNP (B-type Natriuretic Peptide): A marker for heart strain, and useful for early detection of heart failure warning signs.

What happens at your health check?

  • 2. Go to Your Appointment

    You will be given non-blood checks besides collecting your blood sample, along with 12-lead ECG taken, a consultation and examination by a GP and testicular exam.

  • 3. Your results will be processed

    All tests are sent to accredited laboratories in the UK; results that are quite urgent, or abnormal, are highlighted to ensure any treatment can be provided as quickly as possible.

  • 4. Your results report

    Within 2 days, you will be emailed a detailed report written as simply as possible; the report is easy to read, and once again uses green (good), amber (caution), red (urgent) indicators. A GP will discuss the results with you, giving you decisive medical advice and lifestyle choices, you can make going forward.
